Hey Ron: I need your help. I have a client who is in need of your
services. He owns a foundation bred Spanish horse. This stallion has
poor feet and has had a previous laminitis attack caused by bute. He
developed white lines and that was brough under control. But yet he is
staying lame on his front feet. More on his left than his right. Had the
local vet shoot some radiographs. Very thin soles, some rotation and a
mis-aligned bony column. This horse is also very clubby and he has
somewhat of a wry foot on his left fore. The 3rd distal phalanx also
shows remodeling at it's most distal tip.
I hadn't seen this horse in over 6 months and was called this past Friday
to come and look. I did put plain shoes on with equi-pak to help support
him, but he needs more shoeing than I can possibly give him.
Call me when you can. So I can put you in contact with this
owner. He would be willing to bring his horse to you. Mike Zamora
Mike, Happy to help in any way I can. It might be best to keep this in
your yard. I will be happy to work with you and your vets. I'll give you a
call. Ron

Ron:
Thanks. Checked with the owner, yesterday and the horse is doing better.
But one of the reasons, I called is because I know the emotional
attachment that this owner has for these horses. Coming to Victoria would
be great except this would probably be best done in your local hometown or Austin.

Ron: Thanks for getting back with me. I will pass on all the info you
gave to me. Question: So in your past experience could you give me a
total Ball park cost per horse for the shoeing? and vet services. I'm
guessing conservatively 9 months worth of shoeing, with at least the first
4 visits at 3 week intervals and then a 5 week interval after that. I am
asking because I will be asked.
